Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that removes excess fat deposits that accumulate between the skin and muscle tissues. Using a hollow needle known as a cannula, those excess deposits are suctioned out from between the tissues, reshaping and resculpting the body. It can be performed under general anesthesia, although there has been a recent move towards using local anesthesia due to risks associated with the heavier sedation.
How much does it cost?
The cost of Liposuction depends on how many areas of the body you are having treated. For example, just having liposuction performed on your abdomen will result in a lower fee than having Liposuction performed on your abdomen, hips, and thighs.
Am I a good candidate for Liposuction?
If you are in good health and have realistic expectations of your results, then you will be a good candidate for Liposuction.
Which body parts can be treated with Liposuction?
For women, Liposuction can be used on the breasts, buttocks, hips, abdomen, thighs, neck, and cheeks. Men typically have Liposuction performed on their abdomen, chin, flanks, and chest.
What are Elastic Compression Garments?
Compression garments are specially designed girdles that must be worn after having Liposuction. They work to reduce both bleeding and swelling post-procedure.
Are there any risks associated with Liposuction?
There are risks associated with any medical procedure. Some side effects include infections, bleeding, skin ulcerations, and nerve injuries. Patients must also think smart about their cosmetic surgery, and not schedule Liposuction on the same day as multiple other procedures, or even have too much Liposuction performed.
How long will I take to recover after the procedure?
Generally, you may return to an office-type job within 2 days of having Liposuction done. As long as your doctor’s orders are followed and you wear the compression garments as needed, you should be back to normal within a few weeks.

How Does It Work?
Liposuction is the removal of unwanted fat in specific areas. Popular areas are the upper arms, thighs, abdomen, and chin, but other areas can be targeted. Liposuction surgery consists of the surgeon making small incisions where a metal tube (cannula) is inserted. It is connected to a powerful vacuum, and the fat is sucked out. Most liposuction surgeries a medicated fluid is injected before the procedure to help for the easier removal of fat. The liquid, or wetting, helps to reduce bleeding and minimize any pain.
What to Expect After Liposuction
The area will be wrapped firmly to decrease bruising, swelling, and pain. This elastic wrapping or another form-fitting garment will need to be worn for three to four weeks. Often the swelling and bruising will last the first seven to ten days. If you are at risk for infection, antibiotics will be prescribed. It is an outpatient surgical procedure and most area able to move around as soon as it’s completed. Most improvements are noticed within a few days, but it can take up to six months for the skin to tighten in some areas.
Who are Candidates for Liposuction?
The best candidates are women or men over the age of 25 years old in excellent health, are within 25 pounds of their ideal weight, and have fat deposits that have not responded well to their diet and exercise. The skin’s elasticity, or ability to bounce back, will be assessed to determine if liposuction is the best route to treat any problem areas you have. A plastic surgeon will determine your candidacy when you have a consultation.

As we age, many of us get fatigued easier, we gain weight, our bodies respond slower to healing, our hair and nails start to thin, and we become more susceptible to heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and elevated cholesterol. We even begin to think less clearly than we did a decade ago.
Hormone Replacement Therapy, or HRT, can help many, or all, of these symptoms or effects of the aging process. HRT allows our patients to look and feel better and it slows, or in some cases reverses, the aging process with natural “Feel Good” therapy.
While that may sound complicated, the essence of the program is pretty simple. As we age, the body slows the production of hormones that allow for growth and healing. That lack of these hormones slows both. The older you get, the more they slow down. These hormones are directly linked to energy, stamina, strength, and endurance. They are also associated with the body’s ability to fight diseases like cancer, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s, and a list of others.
Our therapy establishes how much of each of the key hormones your body produces and whether or not your body is producing enough of each hormone to allow you to live life to its fullest. If your body is deficient in any of these key hormones, we prescribe naturally derived replacement hormones to bring those levels up to optimum levels. There are virtually no side effects, especially when compared to other types of synthetic hormones.
Many people ask me when this “slowdown” starts.  Certainly most people who would be considered middle-aged would benefit from HRT therapy since our hormone levels are usually at their peak levels in our 20’s. A simple blood test can show us where your current hormone levels are.
As a physician for more than thirty years, I’ve been subject to hundreds of products suggesting anti-aging success. I’m so passionate about this process that I’ve used this same therapy myself for over a decade. As I alluded to earlier, the slowdown of the body’s production of essential chemicals can start relatively early in life. My son, who is in his 20’s, has started this as well and has seen a transformation in his lean muscle growth, as well as, an increased quality of life. This “fountain of youth” is FDA approved and has virtually no side effects – again this is unlike almost every other form of “anti-aging therapy” that I’ve found.
Getting started is simple, simply call and schedule one of our complimentary consultations.
Then we can discuss all of this in greater detail and see how we can custom tailor a program for your exact needs. Â Call today (248) 338-1110 to get started on your anti-aging Hormone Replacement Therapy program.
Get the facts — and understand proven ways to promote healthy aging.
Nowadays there are some people who believe they’ve found youths fountain – A hormone that helps you lose weight, reduce wrinkles, lower blood pressure, adds muscle mass, increases energy and actually reverses the aging process. It sounds like a fantasy, but it’s actually something our bodies create naturally– Human Growth Hormone.
Growth hormone is produced by the pituitary gland — a pea-sized structure at the base of the brain — to fuel childhood growth and help maintain tissues and organs throughout life. Beginning in the middle age, however, the pituitary gland slowly reduces the amount of growth hormone it produces. This natural slowdown has prompted an interest in the use of synthetic human growth hormone (HGH) to stave off the realities of old age.
Who needs to take human growth hormone?
Synthetic human growth hormone, which must be injected, is available by prescription. It’s approved to treat adults who have true growth hormone deficiency.
For adults who have a growth hormone deficiency, injections of human growth hormone can:
Increase bone density
Increase muscle mass
Decrease body fat
Increase exercise capacity
Increase libido
What can human growth hormone do for otherwise healthy adults?
Studies of healthy adults taking human growth hormone are limited. Although it appears that human growth hormone injections can increase muscle mass and reduce the amount of body fat in healthy older adults, the increase in muscle doesn’t translate into increased strength.
HGH is an incredible substance and has tons of proven benefits. An article in the New England Journal which showed results of a study on HGH proved it could improve brain function and memory as well as increase your mental focus. HGH can also help you sleep soundly, improve your sexual performance and drive and even boost your energy and endurance. In addition, you will experience an increase in muscle tone, a loss of body fat and a reduction of wrinkles. These results are incredible and show that HGH actually does work.

What is HRT?
HRT involves taking estrogen, a naturally occurring hormone produced by the body. If a patient still has a uterus, progestin is also administered; estrogen-progestin treatment is called combined therapy.
What does HRT treat?
HRT is primarily used to treat the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause, including menstrual cycle changes in frequency and flow , hot flashes, vaginal dryness, urinary tract changes including more frequent urination, and bone loss. HRT can also delay the onset of menopause in some cases.
What are the benefits of HRT?
HRT is effective in relieving night sweats and hot flashes, vaginal dryness and bone loss. HRT helps prevent spine and hip fractures and may help prevent colon cancer.
What are the risks of HRT?
Estrogen-only HRT causes the uterine lining to grow and may increase the risk of uterine cancer though adding progestin reduces this risk. HRT may contribute to an increased risk of heart attack. HRT is associated with a slightly increased risk of stroke, deep vein thrombosis, breast cancer and gall bladder disease.
How is HRT delivered?
There are two types of HRT. Systemic therapy released hormones into the bloodstream, which delivers them to organs and tissues. Systemic estrogen comes in skin patches, pills, gels and sprays applied to the skin. Progestin, if needed, can be given separately or in a combined pill or patch form.
Local therapy is often used for treating vaginal dryness. A vaginal ring, cream or tablet of estrogen is inserted. The estrogen is released in small doses into the vaginal tissue, helping restore elasticity and thickness while relieving dryness and irritation.
How frequently are treatments taken?
For estrogen-only therapy, the hormone is taken every day or every few days. With combined therapy, treatment can be done daily or cyclically, with estrogen taken every day and progestin added a few days every month or every 3-4 months.
What are the side effects?
The most common side effects are vaginal spotting, heavier bleeding (like that of a menstrual period), fluid retention and short-term breast soreness. While bleeding is an expected side effect, any postmenopausal bleeding should be reported to a physician.

Understanding Hormone Replacement Therapy
Hormone replacement therapy is an FDA-approved treatment for menopause that affects most maturing women. The medications given to you during the therapy contain the hormones you need to counter the symptoms you are experiencing. Additionally, the Mayo Clinic estimates that the medications used in replenishing your hormones can also be effective for preventing heart disease.
Hormones Used During the Process
If you need hormone therapy as a result of menopause, then there are two key hormones that will help you reduce the symptoms you are experiencing, estrogen and progestogen. Estrogen is an integral to maintaining homeostasis. It is the hormone responsible for giving your female characteristics, and it interacts with a lot of systems in your body, including your reproductive system. Progestogen is a substitute for progesterone because progesterone can’t be taken by mouth.
Is Hormone Replacement Therapy a Solution for You?
Many women consider hormone replacement therapy because they want to take back control of their lives. To determine whether you are a candidate for hormone therapy you should consider the following:
You experience hot flashes that impact your daily routine.
Your cycle stopped before you were 40.
You’ve been told that your bone mass isn’t where it should be for your age.
Your ovaries aren’t functioning as they used to function.
If you have any of these problems, then you may be a good candidate for hormone replacement therapy. With the threat of osteoporosis, depression, and coronary heart disease associated with the reduced production of estrogen at an early age, it’s in your best interest to contact us as soon as possible. We can help you get back on track and help you reduce the frequency of your hot flashes.
Many patients have found benefits with the use of synthetic HGH over a period of time. Here are some of the benefits:
Mood Elevation and Brain Function:Â HGH-deficient adults showed significant improvement in the quality of life and well-being and cognitive function.
Bone Health:Â Human growth hormone will stimulate the bone to heal faster after breaks and fractures. It will also stimulate bones to create mass for thicker, stronger bones.
Cardiovascular Health:Â HGH helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. There is evidence that suggests HGH helps maintain a healthy weight, triglyceride levels, and the metabolism of lipoprotein.
Increased Strength:Â human growth hormone provides collagen growth for enhanced performance and strength in muscles and tendons. This helps maintain muscle mass as a person ages, providing strength and support that prevents frailty.
Reduced Erectile Dysfunction:Â studies in Germany have shown a sharp increase of more than 90% in HGH during erections in 80 men. The study concluded that HGH may play a vital role in sexual maturation and sexual performance.
The really good news about human growth hormone is that it can help at a variety of ages, many studies have proven that adults of various ages can benefit when placed on this hormone.
HGH is available through natural production and through a synthetic supplement. For natural stimulation, endurance exercises, seven to nine hours of sleep, and a reduction in sugar and alcohol can all help create increased rates of HGH.
Hormone replacement therapy is best suited for women under the age of 60 who have recently begun menopause. In fact, if you meet these criteria, then HRT can have many benefits including bone loss prevention from osteoarthritis, and reduced risk of heart and brain issues.
Severity of Menopausal Symptoms
One of the main reasons to use HRT is to ease the discomfort of the symptoms of menopause. If your symptoms are minor or you are not experiencing any symptoms, then there is no need to undergo HRT. However, if you are uncomfortable, and meet the other recommended criteria, then it may be right for you.
Health and HRT
If you experience health conditions such as blood clots, stroke, heart conditions, or breast cancer, it is best not to take hormone replacement therapy. It is also not advised for smokers as it can increase the risk of blood clots and other health issues. However, if you are relatively healthy, then you are a good candidate for HRT.
The Risks of Hormone Replacement Therapy
While there are benefits to HRT, especially for those under 60 and in good health, there still is some risk involved. Because it involves increased levels of estrogen and progestin, the risk of a stroke, breast cancer, and deep-vein thrombosis are increased. However, under the care of an experienced physician, it still may be the best option.
Arguably the most common type of hormone replacement therapy is a treatment for menopause. The goal of this treatment is to reduce the discomfort that women may feel when going through this process. The hormones that are introduced into the body are estrogen and progesterone. This treatment is especially common for women that are going through menopause prematurely or due to surgery.
Hormone Replacement Therapy for Transgender Men
Transgender men often choose to undergo hormone replacement therapy. This therapy usually involves introducing significant amounts of testosterone in the body. It can help transgender men with their physical, mental, and emotional transition. Transgender men should meet with their doctors to discuss this therapy, as it may have unintended physical effects.
Hormone Replacement Therapy for Trans Women
Many transgender women choose to undergo hormone replacement therapy for reasons similar to the most often cited by transgender men. It can also help with their physical, mental, and emotional transition. The hormone usually used for transgender women is estrogen. A transgender woman should meet with their doctors to discuss the potential side effects of this therapy.
Androgen Replacement Therapy
Androgen replacement therapy is often prescribed to men who have lost their testicular function or have had their testicles removed. This can often have a negative effect on other parts of the body, which androgen replacement therapy can mitigate. This therapy is not right for all men who have problems in this area, so a meeting with a doctor to discuss options is necessary.
Many people are interested in undergoing hormone replacement therapy. If you are one of these people, you may be unsure whether you were a good candidate for the therapy or not. Below, we will provide you with some information on who may be a good candidate for different types of hormone replacement therapy. Keep in […]
